About Us

Farah Jimenez

I was born in New Jersey after my parents emigrated from Cuba. I received both my bachelor’s and law degrees at the University of Pennsylvania and have worked nearly my whole career in the city’s nonprofit sector, trying to elevate communities and schools. For 13 years I led Mt. Airy USA, a widely respected community development corporation. After that I spent four years as CEO of the People’s Emergency Center, a social services agency in West Philadelphia supporting women and children experiencing homelessness. In 2016 I came to the Philadelphia Education Fund, where our focus is supporting the college and career ambitions of Philadelphia schoolchildren through college advising, STEM career exposure, and scholarship support.

Over the years, I’ve been called on to serve the citizens of Philadelphia through tenures on the Fairmount Park Commission and the School Reform Commission and participation in various civic events, including both the Republican and Democratic national conventions. These experiences have shown me that Philadelphia is a great city with boundless potential. And that, as a city, we are at our best when we put aside partisanship and politics to collaborate on solutions that better the lives of Philadelphians. That’s why I’m looking forward to joining my neighbors on this journey toward A Greater Philadelphia.
