About Us
George J. Awad
I have lived in Philadelphia most of my life. My work occurs mainly in the technology sector, where I am reminded regularly of the enormous opportunities that Philadelphia could offer in fostering economic growth and improving quality of life. I attended Penn, where I majored in electrical engineering. After obtaining a law degree at Pepperdine in California, I returned to Philadelphia to work in intellectual-property law. After about 10 years working in private practice at some of the nation’s leading law firms, I founded Intellectual Asset Management Group, an advisory/investment firm focused on assisting and investing in high-growth technology companies, harvesting their unlocked value, and helping them best deploy their competitive advantages. Along the way I have founded, grown, and exited from a number of technology-focused startups across various industries, including cloud computing, energy optimization, pharmaceuticals, and business services.
I live in Center City and am an active supporter of quality education and the arts—sitting or having served on the boards of Rowan University Foundation, Independence Charter School, and the “Philly Pops.” Philly has been a city of opportunity for me, and I want to see it be the same for all Philadelphians. I joined A Greater Philadelphia to create a collaborative and pragmatic environment where effective solutions to Philadelphia’s social, economic, and education challenges can be fairly considered and enacted.
